Gisborne Safari 2013

We began with the arrival at Bushmere Arms for our meet and greet followed by a lovely morning tea and then spent the next few days visiting some wonderful places.

Morning tea over, it was into your cars and off for a wonder around the Gisborne Farmers' Market - gorgeous Dutch irises plus many more products.

Day 2 started with a visit to Berys McDonald's garden, a very knowledgeable garden and floral artist - here she is discussing the finer points of gardening with Roger (Tauranga Group).

Andrew Scott from Standard Life Sculptured Plants talked to the group about his topiary nursery. Also the last supper was held at the home of Garry Griffin and Maggie Asplet where the Species Award was presented by Alison Nicol to Maggie Asplet for her Iris Pallida. The photo also includes Noel Lapham’s winning NZ Bred Median Iris – the Lucy Delaney Award.

As we sat around eating our morning tea these two Bell Birds entertained us with their music. They sat in the tree right where we were all seated.  Thanks to Merv Stockley for these two photos.
